sqeakd is currently a free, local-only tool that uses open source transcription models for local inference with local data storage. There are no charges, subscriptions, or hidden fees at this time.

Future Plans

•Cloud AI features: If we add online AI capabilities, there may be usage-based charges for cloud processing.
•Data sync services: If we bring cloud storage or sync services online, there may be associated data fees.
•Local features: Core local transcription functionality will remain accessible.

Is sqeakd really free?

Yes. sqeakd is currently 100% free. We use open source transcription models that run locally on your Mac. No servers, no subscriptions, no hidden costs.

Where is my data stored?

All your transcriptions and data are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to external servers. We may add optional cloud sync in the future.

Why isn't it on the Mac App Store?

We distribute directly to maintain full control over updates and avoid App Store restrictions on local AI processing.
